Georgics Project:

(Practice Scholar)

Shows the power of being reconnected to the earth and learning principles of community and self-reliance.

Students read several classics that take place in an agrarian setting, so they see the value and growth that comes from hard work. They learn Georgics Principles (mission, entrepreneurship, forgiveness, self-validation, community stewardship,

interdependence, real estate ownership, etc.) which are not only part of agriculture, but part of life.

A strong emphasis is placed on the power of spirituality creating (aka: planning) something before physically creating it. Each student will plan a Georgic project which can be anything from planning and growing a garden to raising bees or poultry, and a Marketplace project where they sell something they’ve created.

Pyramid Project:

(Transition from Practice to Apprentice Scholar)

Teaches you how to think, not what to think. The four corners of the pyramid represent Logic and Reasoning, Truth,

Habits of a Scientist, and Newtonian Math. We are connecting math and science to the world around them and helping

them to see the relevance, so they have a reason to study it. Developing the habit to log one’s study is emphasized as they

learn to emulate Nathaniel Bowditch and his amazing self-education depicted in the book Carry On, Mr. Bowditch. An

alternative to the Scientific Method is the Matrix Method, which is also taught while they learn how great scientists of all

times learned to wonder, see patterns, and ask the right question. Throughout the course there is growth in the students’

ability to think logically and to measure things they encounter in the world against their core book (which may be

scriptures or any other book that the student and his or her family uses as a foundation of truth.) They are taught many

skills, such as how to find equations as they read the text! Many students find the scientific experiments so enjoyable that

they thirst for more. (*This class is a suggested prerequisite for Quest1&2).

Quest 1&2:

(Apprentice Scholar)

This class offers a personalized study of leadership (among other things!). Students come face-to-face with 6 great

leaders and their landmark speeches. They read about, write about, and discuss the circumstances that led them to

greatness. Second semester they learn to find their own leaders among history and current times who exemplify the traits

that great leaders exemplify—Virtue, Wisdom, Courage, Diplomacy, Inspiring Greatness in Others and Moving the Cause

of Liberty. They write persuasive essays and do presentations on the lives of those leaders who resonated with them

personally. They also work on these essential traits as they come to see themselves and each other as people who can and
